FAQ #: 106
Is there an easy way to increase my costs and prices on all items of a certain type by a percentage. For example, my cost on copper from the vendor went up a flat percentage across the board.

Yes, you can use the Batch Cost/Price Updating program (found under Inventory Management-->Processing-->Price/Cost Upating). This program allows entering a percentage to increase (or decrease with a negative sign) either your Next Cost and/or Last Cost. Most likely you will want to enter the percentage in the Next Cost field. You may also want to go ahead and copy the Next Cost to the Last Cost field if you are using a cost markup multiplier on these items. You can do this by checking the appropriate box. This option essentially allows going ahead and making the system think you have purchased some at the new cost before you actually do. If your cost markup multipliers are based on next cost instead of last, then checking this box is not necessary. Then you must decide if you want to go ahead and raise your selling prices as well, which is normally the case. If you do, then determine if you are using cost markup multipliers on these items or not. If so, then all that you need to do is to check on the check box titled "Compute Prices using Multiplier Codes". If you are not using cost markup multiplier codes, then you will need to also enter a percentage amount in each of the price fields that you want to increase. This can be the same percentage as cost was increased or a different percentage. If you are using List Price markdown multipliers, you may enter a percentage to change List Price and then still click on the multiplier box. If you are not using any type of multiplier codes on these items, then you will need to enter percentages on each of the selling price levels you deisre to change.
