FAQ #: 108
Where do the G/L numbers come from when I duplicate items in Inventory Maintenance?

First, there is a configuration option in ANSWERS Configuration under Inventory that controls whether the G/L #'s default from the Inventory Default file for the warehouse, or whether they come from the application interface records for the product code or department. If your Inventory is configured to come from the Default file, then you can add, change, or view these in the Inventory Default Maintenance program. If your Inventory is configured to get them from the application interface records by product code or department, then you will want to next check your Order Processing configuration to see if your system is configured to update Nonstock items to G/L based on Product Code or Warehouse and Department. Then go to the Application Interface Maintenance program and look in the Nonstock Product Codes section. (Don't worry about the Nonstock terminology. These same interface records serve multiple purposes in different applications.) You can use this program to add, change, or view a list of product codes (or departments) and their corresponding G/L #'s. These control which G/L #'s are defaulted for duplicated inventory items as well as nonstock sales through Order Processing.
