FAQ #: 114
When I print a report, the right side of the report is missing from the page and/or the columns are not aligned properly.
Answers reports need at least 132 columns per page to print all columns. If you do not have 132 columns per page, the information that is in those columns will simply be dropped during the printer process. This means on laser printers, which are 8 1/2 x 11 paper size, that you have to select a smaller font. To select a smaller font, click on the Other Fonts button and choose your font. We typically recommend the Lucide Console font (see below for the explanation on the fonts) and a size of 7. The size of 7 is not on the list, so you have to manually enter 7 in the size box. This will give you around 139-142 columns per page.
When you set the correct size for the number of columns, typically the lines per page changes automatically to take up a full page.
When printing from Answers, you need to use a "fixed" font. There are two types of fonts, "fixed" and "proportional". "Proportional" fonts means that the letters and characters use the actual amount of room needed. A "W" is wider than an "I", so the "W" will take more room to print. This gives you the unaligned columns because the characters only take the amount of space they actually need. With a "fixed" font, each character takes the same amount of space. The "W" and the "I" will both take the same amount of printed space, resulting in neat, aligned columns. We recommend the "Lucida Console" font. If that is not available on your printer, you may look for a "Line Printer" font.
