FAQ #: 143
When using XDBC and the INFKIT file, I get an error "VISION: Too many columns xxx [max: xxx]".
AcuXDBC has a default limit of 256 columns (or fields). The INFKIT file allows for 2082 columns or fields. Each record has room for 260 kit components, and there are 8 kit component fields (2080) and then the main Warehouse and Kit Stock #, make 2082 possible fields. This exceeds the default AcuXDBC column/field limit.
To increase the column/field limit, the Answers Data Source can be edited. If you are using a 32-bit PC, you will find the ODBC Data Source Administrator in the Control Panel. If you are using a 64-bit machine, then you must browse to your C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder and locate the odbcad32.exe program and double-click on it to get the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
Click on your Answers Data Source and select "Configure". On the Advanced tab, change the Maximum # Columns to 2085. This will allow enough room for the INFKIT file. Click on OK to save the change.
You will need to exit completely out of Excel or Access, or whatever program you were trying to use AcuXDBC with and go back into it to allow the program to open the data source again with the new column/field limit.
