FAQ #: 16
When trying to send emails from Answers through Outlook or Outlook Express (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail), I keep getting a window telling me that an application is sending email on my behalf and asking if I want to allow it.

This is a security feature in Outlook Express and Outlook 2003 and higher. If you are using Outlook Express (or Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail), you can click on "Tools" > "Options" > "Security" and then uncheck the box that says "Warn me when other applications try to send mail as me".

In Outlook 2007 and higher, the default setting is to only warn you when your anti-virus software is either inactive or out of date. So, you may not see a warning at all in Outlook 2007 as long as your anti-virus software is functioning properly and kept up-to-date. However, in Outlook 2007 you can go to "Tools", then "Trust Center" and on the left hand side click on Programmatic Access to view the possible options. In Outlook 2010, you can go to "File", then "Options", then "Trust Center", then [Trust Center Settings], then "Programmatic Access", then set it to warn only when your anti-virus software is out-of-date or to never warn (which is not recommended).

In Outlook 2003 we are unaware of an option to disable this warning. It is part of the new security features that Microsoft added in this version and currently there is no way that we have found to disable it.
