FAQ #: 20
How do I determine where entries to the Error Account (99999) came from?

The entries printed under the Error Account provide three helpful pieces of information to help determine the root of the problem.

First is the date the entry was made.

The second is the source code of the entry as this tells you the journal that made the entry automatically or your own source code for manual entries.

Third you can examine the comment of the entry which contains the original errorenous account number that the entry was posted to. For users on a 5-digit G/L account numbering system, you should ignore the leading 2 zeros and the last 3 zeros. For example if you had a comment on an entry of "0015046000" it would mean that the entry was originally made to an account number "15046" which does not exists at this point.

Armed with the date, source code, and original account number, you can hopefully review the appropriate journal on that day to work towards to solving the problem.
