Configuring VSI-Fax to Dial an Outside Line.

If your phone system requires that you dial a code, such as 9, in order to reach an outside line before you begin to dial the number, then you will need to set VSI-Fax up appropriately. Otherwise, VSI-Fax will begin dialing the number, without having reached an outside line first.

On the Server, use the Start button, and click on Start > Programs > VSI (or VSI-Fax) > VSI-Fax Server Administration. Your server name will be in the left panel of the window. Right-click on the server, and choose "Connect". You will be prompted to login. Enter "vsifax" as the user name and no password. Double-click on the "Devices" option. Four options will be displayed. Right-click on the option "fax1", and select "Properties". Click on the "Fax Number Modifiers" tab. Enter the dial-out code as the "Dial Pre-Fix". Close out the windows by answering "OK".

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools >Services. Scroll down and find the VSI-Fax services. Right click on the VSI-Fax Server and tell it to stop and then right-click on it and tell it to start.
