FAQ #: 50
My PC is giving an error message "cbl.out program missing or inaccessible" when I try to start Answers.

This is a very common error that is normally easy to fix.

1. Check to make sure that the PC is accessing the network drives. Each PC has a "mapped" network drive which connects it to the server. If this mapped drive is either missing or not connected, then the PC is unable to locate the Answers programs to run.

To check to make sure the mapped drive is available and functioning, double-click on "My Computer" from the PC's desktop. You will see the floppy disk drive (normally A:), the hard drive (normally C:), and the perhaps a CD-Rom drive. You should also see the FullSystem Drive, which will normally be H:. If you do not see the H: drive (or the drive that we have defined for Answers use), then you will need to follow the instructions for mapping the network drive.

If the drive is mapped and you see the drive, it may have a red "X" on the drive. This means that the drive is mapped to the server, but that no connection has been made to the drive. Simply double-click on the drive to make the connection. If the connection is successful, you will see a new window displayed with the folders and files from the server. You can close all of these windows down. You should now be able to click on your Answers icon to start Answers. If the connection is not successful, you will receive an error.

If the drive is mapped, but the PC cannot connect to the drive, you will need to check to verify that the network connections are in place. This means to check the actual cables and insure that the network cable is plugged into the PC, and the network cable is plugged into the hub. You should have a light on the hub for the PC.

Right-click on your Answers icon and select "Properties". Compare the target field to the target field on a PC that is working. It can happene sometimes with Windows software updates that the target gets changed during the update procedures. You can copy the target and start in from a PC that is working.
