FAQ #: 52
The Answers Menu only comes up part of the way and then it just sets there and does not respond? What is wrong and how do I fix it?

The Answers Menu is resizable and moveable, meaning a user can position the menu on their screen and they can change the size of the menu to make it full screen or a custom size. If the user has tried to re-size or position their menu in a place that is outside of the screens normal display range, then the next time when they try to click on their icon to display the menu, it cannot display itself outside of it's normal screen area and workable size.

This problem can also occur if user's use PC Anywhere or GoToMyPC or other similar software to log into their PC remotely and resize their menu remotely. The remote screen sizes are sometimes bigger or smaller than the in-house monitor and resizing the menu remotely can cause display problems on the in-house monitor.

To correct:

1. Get out of the incomplete/non-responsive menu, even if you must use CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out of it.

2. Go to a PC that is working properly and go to System Management > Answers Software Maintenance > User Settings > User Preferences Maintenance.

3. In the first column, "user", locate the user having the issue.

4. In the second column, "key1", locate DRCMENU.

5. In the third column, "key2", locate a reference to SIZE-POSITION.

6. Delete the remembered setting by highlighting the line and clicking on the trashcan. Now that the remembered settings are deleted, Answers will display the menu with it's default setting.
