FAQ #: 69
What is required to run automatic end of day programs?

The first thing that is necessary in order for your system to run automatic daily procedures is a macro telling the system exactly what functions to perform and what programs to run. This macro is written by Data Resources Corporation and is provided with your system.

The second requirement is that a list of programs be supplied so that the macro written above knows what programs to run. You can use the "Batch Data Entry Program" to edit your list of day-end programs. The "Batch Data Entry Program" can be found by selecting System Management, then ANSWERS Software Maintenance from the main menu. The "Batch Data Entry Program" provides a button for editing the list of day-end programs.

Next, you must ensure that the proper information has been given to the system, so that the system knows what parameters to use when running programs. These parameters are entered through the "Batch Data Entry Program". The "Batch Data Entry Program" is found by selecting System Management, then ANSWERS Software Maintenance from the main menu. The first four parameters, date ranges, should be left all zeroes for daily runs. This will allow the system to use the current system date as the date when running daily reports and registers.

Lastly, the day-end processing must be enabled. This can be done on the server, using the "Batch Processing Scheduler".
