FAQ #: 70
I received in an item that a customer has on backorder. When I ran the Stock Receipts Journal, it showed up on the merchandise received section, but it is not on the Back Order Review section of the report. Why is it not releasing my customer backorder?
In order for the Stock Receipts Journal to realize that an item that was received in is on backorder and needs to be released, the stock number and the category of the receipt must match the stock number and the category of the customer order exactly. If the customer order shows the item as being a non-stock factory direct (category M) then it must be a category M on the purchase order and receipt as well. In addition, the stock number must match exactly. This is often an issue with non-stock items where the stock number must be typed in. Be sure that the stock number on the customer order matches the stock number on the receipt, especially if you have used dashes or spaces in the stock number.
