Assigning Revision Numbers to Quotes and Purchase Orders
Answers 8.0 allows users to increment and add a "Revision Number" to Quotes and Purchase Orders. Adding a Revision Number does not actually change the Quote # or P/O #. But it will show up beside the Quote # or P/O # on forms that are printed or emailed in a format of -R## where ## is the revision number. The option to assign a Revision Number is offered when you go to print/email/fax the Quote or the P/O. These are not incremented automatically by the system but can be changed as needed up or down by the user. They can range from 00 (no revision number) to 99.
If a Revision Number is used, it can cause the space required to print the Quote or P/O Number followed by the Revision Number to take up more space on a form than a Quote or P/O Number by itself. For this reason, Quote and P/O form templates in the newer (non-PCL) format released in 2017 will be updated during the upgrade process to allow room for this number to print if/when used. If you are still using the older PCL form templates, we may be able to switch you over to the newer AFT based form template for Quotes and/or P/O's or possibly even manually adjust your PCL template for Quote and/or P/O forms to allow room for this new Revision Number to print following the Quote or P/O Number.
This new Revision Number will also show on Quote and P/O Inquiry windows in the title bar in the same format following the Quote and P/O Number when viewed in programs such as Customer Inquiry, Quote searches, Vendor Inquiry, Inventory Inquiry, P/O searches, etc.
