Automatic Contact Search in Order/Quote Entry and P/O Entry
The Customer Contacts Search window can now pop-up automatically as you start to type in an Authorization in the header field of quotes and orders. This occurs if the Authorization field is blank as you start typing an alphabetic character if this option is enabled (which it is by default in this release). When this occurs you will be taken to the search box in the Contacts Search window just as if you had clicked on the binoculars button to search for contacts to the right of the Authorization field. Any text that was typed into the Authorization field will be transferred to the search box of the Contact window so no keystrokes are lost. You can continue typing more characters to further refine the search. As matching contacts are found, they will be highlighted in the list. If the desired contact is not setup and you do not wish to add them as a contact, you can simply exit the search window and continue to type in the remainder of the Authorization field manually. Note that if you wish to keep from having to use the mouse, you can press the <Esc> key to exit the contact search window the same as clicking the [Exit] button.
For users that prefer the old behavior of manually searching when needed and just typing in names manually, this new feature can be disabled under Options on the pull-down menu bar across the top of the Order/ Quote Entry window. Each user's setting is remembered and re-defaulted as the exit and re-enter the program.
This also works on Prospect Contacts in Quotes and on Vendor Contacts in Purchase Order Entry
