Entering / Changing Auxiliary Descriptions for a Sales Order
Answers gives you the capability to enter and modify auxiliary descriptions specifically for a sales order.
Auxiliary Descriptions are the alternate descriptions that can be set up for items in Inventory Maintenance. Auxiliary descriptions can be up to 32 lines long and are printed in place of the standard one-line description.
You can enter and modify Auxiliary Descriptions for items on a sales order, without having to enter or modify the standard auxiliary description for an item. This is especially useful for kit items where you might be making a modification of one or two pieces of the kit. You can edit the Auxiliary Description for the kit on that order.
You can also enter an Auxiliary Description for non-stock items, factory direct items, items that do not normally have an auxiliary description, and special charges. There is no extra benefit to entering auxiliary description as opposed to comment lines, except that the Auxiliary Descriptions do not take up lines on an order or quote. So, if you have a lengthy quote or sales order, Answers is limited to 999 total lines, and the Auxiliary Descriptions do not count towards that 999 limit.
Entering and editing the
Auxiliary Descriptions is performed using the
icon. Auxiliary descriptions entered specifically for
a sales order can be viewed in Invoice History off the
right-click menu. They will also be copied onto the
current sales order or quote, if you copy an item out of
history.
