Schedule a Price File Import to Update Later

A new feature in the 2019 release of Answers allows for scheduling a Price File Import Update to run at a later time.  This is useful if you want to map and setup the import with all desired options ahead of time, but not have it go into effect until a specific day arrives, such as when the vendor plans to put these changes into effect.   This could also be especially helpful if the person managing these updates is out of the office on the day a price update should go into effect.

One method is to follow the same steps in the Price File Import program just as if you were going to update it now (including an option to preview it first if desired), but instead of updating it you can click on a new [Schedule] button, which will prompt you to enter the "Effective Date" and allow you to choose how and if you want open purchase orders updated or not.

The second method is to click on the Import Map you want to use (it should already be setup at this point) and then click on the new calendar Calendar icon on the toolbar.  Then click on the New icon to add a new import to the schedule.  The calendar Calendar icon can also be used to review, edit, or delete any pending imports scheduled, but not yet updated, from this list.

The Clock icon on the toolbar can be used to scan for scheduled imports within an Effective Date Range, however it is important to understand that it should not be necessary to have to run scheduled imports manually like this.  Instead if you plan to take advantage of this scheduling feature, you want to insure that the Scheduled Import program is enabled to check nightly during End-of-Day for any pending imports that are due to be updated.  This can be done under System Management-->Answers Software Maintenance-->Batch Data Entry using the [Daily Tasks] button, however, when you schedule your first import, this program should be enabled automatically for you as a convenience, thus usually making it unnecessary to enable it manually in your End-of-Day processing list.
