Order Entry Multi-Line Copy/Paste, Cut/Paste, Delete Functions

Beginning with Answers 4.4, released in September 2013, Order Entry Sales Orders, Returns, and Quotation modes now have the ability perform multiple line copy/paste, cut/paste, and deletion functions.  To access this, you must be in the detail tab of Order Entry.  You can find the option under the menu bar’s Edit menu (Multi-Line Copy, Cut, Delete) or under the right click menu.

·         The window that appears will allow you to select the function you want to use (copy, cut, delete).  You then have the ability to individually select each line (up to 10 selections) or a larger range (limitation of 999 total lines can be created).   With Copy/Cut, you can also select an insertion paste point at the end of the order/return/quote, before a certain line, or after a certain line.

·         There are a couple restrictions to this function.  Firstly, it cannot be used with Warehouse Transfers.   Also, with the Cut function in Sales Orders or Returns, you cannot Cut lines on Back Order, lines with Serial #’s, lines with Inventory Detail, or lines with Purchasing Contracts.   This restriction had to be placed due to problems with correctly updating quantities in  theses more complex situations.   However, these lines can be copied and then manually deleted.   This last restriction does not apply to quotes since no quantities are updated by quotes.  Before attempting to use this feature, it is suggested that you update your Answers software by clicking here.  This feature was improved significantly in November of 2013 after the initial release of version 4.4.0 and therefore you want to make sure you are using the newest version of programs before trying out this new feature.
