Resetting Screen Columns in Order Entry, Purchase Order Entry, Etc.

One support question we frequently receive is from users who are in Order Entry, Purchase Order Entry, Cash Posting and various other Answers programs and they cannot see all the columns they should be seeing.  They may have one large column for stock number or customer and even scrolling to the right does not allow them to see additional columns.  Sometimes columns even seem to be missing.

These screens use "grids", or rows and columns, much like a spreadsheet such as Excel.  And, like Excel, the column widths are resizable.  Holding your mouse over the column divider in the heading row will allow you to drag the column divider and resize the columns.  What happens is that sometimes, even unintentionally, users end up resizing columns so small that you can no longer see the dividers to expand them, or they resize a column so large it exceeds the total allowable width of the entire grid.  Answers remembers the column sizes set by each user, which is normally a convenient option, but in the case where columns are resized inappropriately, it means that exiting the program (or Answers altogether) will not fix the screen.

In the past, it was necessary to call Data Resources Corporation and we would walk you through a process that would delete the user setting and allow the screen to return to normal.  Now, if you accidentally (or even purposely) resize your grid columns, you can easily reset them.

In the affected program screen, click on the button or the menu bar selection listed below and select the option that says "Reset Grid Sizes to Default".
