Reinstating Canceled Lines and Orders
Answers 5.0 provides options for reinstating canceled lines, sales orders, and purchase orders. These features and options will make it easier to reinstate lines and even whole orders that have been accidentally deleted.
1. To reinstate lines that have been accidentally deleted, use the P/O Activity Log Viewer or the Order Processing Log Viewer, or the Quote Log Viewer. Enter the sales order, purchase order, or quote number and at the bottom of the screen, in red, you will see the deleted lines. You can right-click on a single line and choose to reinstate it. You can also right-click on a line and choose to reinstate all deleted lines.
IF the entire quote, purchase order, or sales order has been cancelled or deleted and no longer exists, the user will receive a prompt to restore the header as well. Unless the header record exists, the detail lines cannot be restored, so it will have to be reinstated as well.
Restored lines are added to the bottom of the existing order, quote, or purchase order. If you wish the lines to be in a different sequence, you can use the features in the entry program that lets you move lines (found under the Edit pull-down menu in each program).
When restoring "all" lines, only lines for the same selected date will be reinstated, so if lines were cancelled/deleted on multiple days, each date has to be selected and reinstated.
The "reinstate" date is recorded in the log and displayed, so if lines are restored more than time, the user will be warned the selected line has already been reinstated and given the date/time it was initially reinstated.
2. IF an entire order, purchase order, or quote needs to be reinstated, you can do so in the respective entry program. Under the File menu there is an option to Reinstate A Cancelled Purchase Order, Quote, Order, Return, and Transfer.
3. IF a header has been modified and you wish to revert back to prior header settings, there is also a "Revert to Previous Header" option. This option will provide a search of the Log Viewer and let you choose the header you wish you revert back to. This feature may be handy if changes were made to terms, shipping addresses, etc and you wish to go back to a previous setting.
4. Configuration options are available to allow password protecting the reinstate and reverting options. The password will be required when reinstating lines from the viewer or when reinstating an entire document or when reverting the header.
