Software Updates

The following software updates are available for Answers version 9.3 (released 09/09/26).  These updates can be installed directly on your Windows server or from a networked Windows P/C.  A list of software changes, updates and corrections included in these updates can be found on the Software Updates List page.

Downloading and Installing the Update

Please follow all instructions carefully.  Failure to follow these instructions may result in your Answers software not working properly.

Notes: The update available for downloading from this page is a cumulative update since the initial release of Answers 9.3 on September 8, 2026.

1. Perform a full-system backup (or a backup that will protect both your Answers programs and your data) prior to installing any software updates.

2. Click on the download link below that you wish to install.  Downloads are dated so users can easily tell if they have downloaded the newest updates.

3. When prompted, select "Save to Disk".  Select an appropriate location on the Server or P/C to save the file.

4. Once the download is completed, you may need to use File Explorer to locate the downloaded update file or you may be able to open the folder containing the downloaded file directly from the download icon in your web browser.

5. Ask all other users to exit out of all Answers related programs prior to running step # 6.

6. Double-click on the file name you down-loaded above to start the extraction/unzip process.  A window should display for extracting the sub-folders and files, where you will want to click on the [Extract All] button on the toolbar .  If you receive any prompts that the file is not safe, you can bypass those and instruct Answers to "run it anyways".  These warnings are often due to the newness of the posted update.  The files need to be extracted to the main "Answers" folder on the server.  By default this folder is "H:\Answers" from P/C's.  If you have mapped the server to a different drive letter on your P/C's, then choose the "Answers" folder on the appropriate drive letter.  If you are running this installation from the server, then usually Answers will be found in the "D:\Answers" folder.  If Answers has been installed on a different drive or folder,  then this path will need to be changed accordingly during the extraction process.  If you are unsure where to unzip to click on Help-->Client Info from the Answers Main Menu program and look for the line that shows the "Install Folder".  Once unzipped/extracted, the programs and other folders will extract and load into the appropriate sub-folders within your main Answers folder on your server.

Additional Notes and Hints:

• If your browser warns you it is not downloaded often or not commonly downloaded, it is safe to bypass that warning.
• In Microsoft Edge, you can click on the Downloads button, then on the AnswersUpdate###### entry, then on the [...] to the right.  You will then be given an option to "Delete" or "Keep" so click on "Keep".  But even after doing this the next pop-up will still warn you again and suggesting you cancel or delete it. But if you click on the small drop-down arrow to the right of the [Delete] button, you will get a [Keep Anyway] button which is what you want to click on.  Once you do that, the AnswersUpdate###### download will appear normal and will have an "Open File" and/or "Open Folder" link below it that you can click on.
• Mozilla Firefox and Google do not currently make you go thru these extra steps to save and open the download file like Microsoft Edge does.
• Also note that you may also have to confirm or unblock it from some anti-virus programs in order to allow it to open or extract.
• If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen brings up a blue window telling you "Windows protected your PC", click on the "More Info" link, then on the [Run Anyway] button.

Do not down-load this update if you have not installed Answers version 9.3 released in September 2026.  Installing this update on an older version of Answers (such as 9.1 or 9.2) will result in system incompatibility and serious problems making your Answers software unusable until resolved.
