Tip of the Month for: September 2011

New and Updated Information is now Available on the Web

With the release of Answers 4.2 coming in September, we wanted to make you aware of some new and updated information that we have posted to our web-site in conjunction with this release that you will be installing in September.

(1) The Frequently Asked Questions database has been updated and will be continue to be updated with commonly asked questions regarding both new and old features in Answers.

(2) The ODBC/XDBC User's Manual has been updated and improved including installation and configuration information on both the older AcuODBC product as well as its replacement AcuXDBC.  This updated manual contains a more comprehensive list of files and keys needed when linking multiple files to perform more complex queries.  This list also gives suggested files to use depending upon the type of information you are trying to extract.  Examples of some basic queries have also been added as well.  And also keep in mind that there are additional down-loads available on both some basic and more advanced queries using both Excel and Word also available from the Manuals & Documentation page and for different versions of Microsoft Office even though the concepts remain the same for the different Office versions.

(3) A new manual has been posted for helping system administrators integrate Answers with FedEx Ship Manager a new feature that has been added to Answers 4.2.  This feature will work very similar to integrating with UPS World Ship and you will be able to use either of these shippers exclusively or both of them simultaneously.

(4) The Web Order Entry Manual has been updated with the new features added in version 4.2 that optionally allow sales to non-customers or parties requesting to become a customer.  This feature involves some new configuration options and new web pages that you probably will want to review and edit if you plan on using this feature.

(5) And if you are interested in a preview of what's coming in this release, you can download the Release Notice which contains a summarized and detailed list of the new features as well as installation instructions.  This is the same document you will be provided a link to along with the actual download link to the update a few business days prior to your scheduled installation date.
